The word Brandy
comes from the Dutch word brande wign, (burnt
wine), which is how the strangent fermond
dutch trades who introduced it to span to
Northern Europe to Southern France in the
16th century described wine that had been
burnt.
Brandy in it's broadest definition, is
a spirit made from fruit juice or Fruit
Pulp and skin. BRANDY is basically a distilled
wine. It can be divided into 3 basic groups
French Brandy
Its origin can be traced as early as 13th
century in the regin of ARMAGNAC.
Grape Brandy
Distilled from fermented grape juice or
crushed but not pressed grape pulp and skin.
Pomace Brandy
It is made from pressed grapes. |
